Maccabi Tel Aviv Awaits Ifa Lundberg's Decision Amid Contract Talks

Ifa Lundberg, a key player for Maccabi Tel Aviv who helped the team recover from a poor start to win both the Israeli championship and State Cup, has completed his contract with the club. Maccabi has offered Lundberg a new deal worth approximately $2 million per season and is currently awaiting his decision. Lundberg is considering other offers from EuroLeague teams and leagues abroad, while Maccabi continues negotiations to secure his return.

Earlier in the season, Lundberg initially demanded $1.6 million per year, while Maccabi was willing to pay $1.2 million. During the playoffs, his camp raised the demand to $10 million over three years, a figure Maccabi rejected. As time passed without other offers, Lundberg's representatives lowered their demands to around $2 million per season. The club is eager to retain Lundberg, who emerged as one of the team leaders and was named MVP of the finals series.

Lundberg has expressed to teammates his affection for the club and Israel, and his desire to continue playing for Maccabi, especially given his elevated status following a strong season despite significant injuries. The club hopes to finalize an agreement soon to keep the Danish guard on the roster for the upcoming season.
