Chef Yuval Ben Neriah, renowned for his high-end restaurants Taizu and a, is restructuring his casual brand Cafe Taizu by closing its physical locations and focusing solely on delivery. The Cafe Taizu branch at Gevaon Square will close, following the earlier shutdown of the Sarona Market branch. This marks a strategic shift away from in-person dining to a delivery-only format, with operations centralized in the main kitchen of the flagship Taizu restaurant.
Cafe Taizu was originally launched during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic to offer accessible pan-Asian cuisine in a delivery-friendly format. As restrictions eased, the brand expanded to physical locations aiming to provide a casual dining experience and even considered nationwide growth. However, maintaining strict quality standards across multiple sites proved challenging, prompting the decision to consolidate operations.
The move allows Ben Neriah to better supervise the menu and product quality while expanding the delivery offerings to include signature dishes from the main Taizu restaurant. The kitchen has recently undergone significant renovations to support this enhanced delivery model. Starting August 1, Cafe Taizu will return to its original concept of delivery and self-pickup only, operating from a location near the flagship restaurant.
