Likud Leaders in Ariel Urge Swift Formation of City Rabbi Selection Committee

Senior members of the Likud branch in Ariel have formally requested Religious Services Minister Yariv Levin to expedite the establishment of the committee responsible for selecting the city's rabbi. They emphasized that most procedural steps have already been completed, presenting a rare opportunity to finalize the appointment. The request, signed by members of the Likud council in Ariel elected at the party's fifth conference, highlights the city's diverse community and the importance of appointing a rabbi who is a local figure familiar with its residents and capable of uniting different segments with responsibility and dedication to Israel.

The Likud leaders stressed that the appointment should be of a rabbi who enjoys broad trust and is committed to service and giving. They warned that delaying the process could result in uncertainty about when the opportunity to appoint a city rabbi would arise again, potentially leading to the selection of a rabbi unfamiliar with Ariel's unique character and community needs. The letter was signed by Avner Mashraki, chairman of the Likud branch council; Yossi Chen, chairman of the branch management; Deputy Mayor Yechiel Tohami; Deputy Mayor Ela Arbel Weiner; and Acting Deputy Mayor Shira Dekel Katz.
