Haifa Man Dies Months After Iranian Missile Strike That Killed Four Family Members

Michael Katz, an 82-year-old resident of Haifa, succumbed to his severe injuries more than three months after an Iranian missile struck his building on Shimshon Street 57 during Operation "Roaring Lion." His wife, Nina Katz, who was also injured in the attack, recounted the ordeal in an interview alongside her granddaughters Ori and Yuval. Nina described how she managed to escape the rubble with the help of a passerby, while Michael was trapped under large concrete beams and rescued after a prolonged effort by emergency services. He was initially treated in intensive care at Rambam Hospital before being transferred to Nesher for continued care, where he eventually passed away.

Nina expressed deep sorrow over the destruction of their home, which will take years to rebuild, and the loss of her husband, whom she described as a devoted and remarkable man who worked for Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and received a Rafael award for his contributions to national security. The missile strike also killed four members of the Gershovich family. Michael Katz is survived by his wife Nina, two sons Itamar and Yoav, and six grandchildren. His funeral is scheduled to take place at the Haifa cemetery.

Nina reflected on the tragedy as a miracle that she survived and expressed gratitude to God for her life, recalling the years she spent traveling the world with her husband and the deep void his passing has left in her life.
