Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Killing Adopted Son in Maccabim
The Lod District Court sentenced Shay Blum from Maccabim to 10 years in prison for fatally shooting his adopted son Omri nine times and stabbing him in the heart in July 2023. Additionally, Blum received a 12-month suspended sentence. By mutual agreement, he will begin serving his prison term in January 2027. Blum was convicted under a plea deal on a revised indictment charging him with manslaughter under diminished responsibility. Shay and his wife adopted Omri about 25 years ago. Omri was diagnosed on the autism spectrum and was known to suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome.
