Two Teen Girls Foil Pizza Shop Robbery in Jerusalem by Chasing Off Thief
Two teenage girls, 17-year-old Noya Mizrahi and 18-year-old Noa Amiel, working a shift at a pizza shop in Jerusalem, thwarted a robbery attempt when a man wearing a red hat tried to steal money from the cash register. The thief entered the shop, grabbed bills from the register, but Noya blocked his path. After he pushed her away and fled, the girls immediately chased after him instead of freezing in fear. They shouted for help and pursued him outside, determined not to let him escape.
In an interview with HaOlam HaBoker, Noya described confronting the thief instinctively, telling him to stop and return the money. Noa added that she blocked him from the front while Noya blocked him from behind before he pushed her and ran. The girls revealed the man had visited the pizza shop as a customer the previous week, behaving inappropriately, which they initially dismissed as harassment rather than suspecting theft.
Reflecting on their bravery, the girls admitted they were surprised by their own actions, acknowledging the man was physically stronger. Police responded promptly; Community Policing Officer Alaa Harb from the Moriah station said officers arrived quickly, collected evidence, interviewed witnesses, and conducted extensive searches. Using experience, knowledge of local offenders, and technological tools, they arrested the suspect at his home and recovered items linking him to the crime.
