Jerusalem District Police arrested a 15-year-old boy red-handed shortly after he stole a Toyota in the Jerusalem area, and prosecutors filed a serious indictment against him a week later. Police said the teen was allegedly running a small network of vehicle break-ins and thefts around Jerusalem.
According to the report, officers received an urgent call about the theft, deployed to likely escape routes as part of an anti-property-crime operation, and quickly spotted the stolen car in motion. They blocked it, trapped the suspect in the driver’s seat, and detained him before he could flee toward the Palestinian territories.
Body-camera and security footage released by police show the suspect walking along the street with a small bag, believed to contain burglary tools, then entering the car. In the arrest video, an officer runs to the blocked vehicle and yells, "Get out of the car! Move! Hands up!" Police pulled him from the driver’s seat, forced him to the ground, and handcuffed him, while dispatch officers were heard praising the unit, saying, "Well done, very good work." Officers also recovered a mobile phone and other equipment from inside the car.
The suspect was taken to the Harel Police Station for intensive questioning. Investigators from the Shafat Station later linked him to two additional car break-ins and another attempted vehicle theft, all in the Shafat area of Jerusalem, building a full evidentiary case in three separate incidents. The Jerusalem District Prosecution Unit filed the indictment on Tuesday against the resident of the territories, and police said efforts against property offenders will continue with open and covert measures.
