Thieves Break Into Jerusalem Jewelry Store Near Police Station but Flee Empty-Handed
A group of robbers broke into the longstanding Opira jewelry store in Jerusalem's Zion Square overnight between Saturday and Sunday. The store's central location, just a short distance from a police station with many patrol cars, made the break-in unusual. Security footage shows the thieves arriving in a Lexus SUV, forcing entry, but shortly after, they fled the scene without stealing anything. The robbers abandoned the attempt when police were called to a different incident nearby and officers passed through the area. Police suspect the group is from the Bedouin sector, as their modus operandi resembles recent jewelry store break-ins in southern Israel.
