Jerusalem Police Arrest Burglary Ring After Apartment Break-In in South City
Jerusalem police officers apprehended a burglary ring suspected of multiple break-ins and thefts after catching them in the act in southern Jerusalem. On Saturday night, during a planned operation, detectives from the operational division identified the suspects breaking into a residential apartment. Police set up strategic roadblocks and stopped the suspects' vehicle as they attempted to flee. Inside the car, officers found a large quantity of stolen property including jewelry, cash, computers, and other valuable items believed to have been taken from two separate apartments shortly before the arrest.
The two suspects, residents of Hizma and Issawiya, were transferred to the special tasks division of the central unit for interrogation, and their detention was extended by court order. Jerusalem police emphasized that burglary crimes not only cause economic damage but also directly harm citizens' sense of security in their homes. Authorities stated that the central unit will continue using advanced technological, intelligence, and operational methods to infiltrate and disrupt such criminal groups.
The police vowed to prevent property criminals from targeting citizens' homes and to vigorously pursue legal action against them. The investigation into the suspects is ongoing at the relevant division of the Jerusalem district police to build a solid evidentiary case against the group.
