Australian Center Jongkuch Mach Emerges as Next NBA Unicorn Comparable to Victor Wembanyama

Jongkuch "JK" Mach, an 18-year-old Australian center standing 2.29 meters tall, is rapidly gaining attention as one of the most promising basketball prospects of his generation. Born in Sudan and belonging to the Dinka tribe of South Sudan, known for its tall stature, Mach moved to Australia with his family and has trained at the Australian Basketball Centre of Excellence in Canberra since age 14. Currently playing in Australia's NBL1 league, he is projected as a top candidate for the 2028 NBA Draft.

Mach recently impressed scouts during the Adidas camp for the NBL league, averaging 9 points and 8 rebounds per game. Videos of his effortless movement and ability to place the ball at rim height without jumping have drawn significant interest. Despite his extraordinary size, Mach is still developing physically and technically, having gained 18 kilograms of muscle in the past year. He is coached by Robby McKinley, known for developing NBA player Josh Giddey.

Several leading NCAA programs, including LSU, South Carolina, Colorado, Washington State, and Santa Clara, have already offered Mach scholarships. He models his game after Victor Wembanyama, the NBA star, and aspires to reach the NBA himself. Unlike past tall players such as Manute Bol, Mach is developing guard-like skills including dribbling and passing, reflecting modern demands for big men.
