Grenade Thrown at Barak Abramov's Japanika Restaurant Chain Branch in Northern Israel

A grenade was thrown at a branch of the Japanika restaurant chain owned by Barak Abramov in Rosh Pina during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, continuing a wave of attacks against his businesses. The police have launched an investigation into the incident. This follows a series of similar attacks that began on Saturday with an arson attack at the Givatayim branch and have since occurred in Herzliya, Ramat Gan, Netanya, Or Yehuda, Kiryat Ono, and Afula.

Barak Abramov founded an investment group in 2006 that owns several restaurant chains in Israel, including Japanika. In 2015, he bought out his partner to own the entire Japanika chain, which had about 20 branches, for 50 million shekels. In May 2026, Abramov sold 20% of his investment group in a deal expected to bring approximately 200 million shekels into the group.

Abramov is also well known in Israeli football. He purchased the Bnei Yehuda football club in 2016, leading it to two State Cup victories before selling it back to its previous owner in 2022. He then acquired Beitar Jerusalem, where he implemented major changes that restored the club's prominence, including winning the State Cup for the first time since 2009.
