Grenade Thrown at Restaurant in Rishon Lezion Amid Rising Crime Violence

In the early hours between Saturday and Sunday, a grenade was thrown at a restaurant in Rishon Lezion, causing an explosion but no injuries. Police from the Rishon Lezion station arrived at the scene in the city's entertainment district, launched an investigation, and began reviewing security footage. This incident follows a similar event on Thursday when a grenade was thrown at a residence in the Tzameret neighborhood of northern Tel Aviv, causing minor damage to a window but no casualties. Investigations by the Yarkon district police and Tel Aviv bomb squad determined the incidents to be criminal in nature.

Additionally, police announced the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect from Rehovot linked to the arson of a Japnika restaurant branch in Givatayim last month. This follows a previous arrest of another Rehovot resident in his twenties connected to the same case. The recent suspect's detention was extended until August 11.

The day before, police opened investigations into two suspected grenade-throwing incidents: one in Herzliya near a well-known business, which caused no damage or injuries, and another in the Danya neighborhood of Haifa, where vehicles were damaged but no one was hurt. Police from the Carmel district and bomb squads are collecting evidence, with both cases deemed criminal.

These events are part of a recent surge in violence linked to escalating conflicts between crime families, including grenade attacks, shootings, and arsons, often targeting Japnika restaurant branches. Authorities suspect these incidents are connected to a feud between the Mosli and Jarushi crime families and may involve attempts to harm the restaurant chain owned by businessman Barak Abramov. About three weeks ago, Yossi Mosli, head of the Mosli crime organization, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in this grenade war amid the financial dispute with the Jarushi group.
