Massive protests and major concerts cause severe traffic chaos in Gush Dan
A day like this has never been seen on Israel's roads: the Jerusalem Faction announced a major protest today (Thursday) in central Israel over the arrest of yeshiva students. The mass demonstration is taking place on an evening when three major concerts are being held in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan and Petah Tikva, by Eyal Golan, Omer Adam and Ben Tzur, and about 80,000 people are expected to attend. Police said, "Postpone non-urgent trips to another time." At this stage, Israel's main transportation artery is paralyzed. Highways 1, 6 and 4 are blocked, and the Ayalon lanes are at a standstill. Trains from Tel Aviv have been suspended, and it is not possible to enter or leave the central region.
Omer Adam is scheduled to perform at 8:15 p.m. at Ramat Gan Stadium, Eyal Golan will perform at 8:00 p.m. at Bloomfield Stadium, while singer Ben Tzur will perform at 8:15 p.m. at the stadium in Petah Tikva.
These are the roads and interchanges that have been blocked: ● Highway 1 westbound was closed at the Ganot Interchange following a protest, with congestion from the Shapirim Interchange. ● Highway 6 in the Hadid Tunnel is closed to vehicle traffic in both directions, and the Jerusalem Faction announced it has also begun blocking the Ben Shemen Interchange. ● As of now, Highway 4 is blocked in both directions from the Mesubim Interchange. ● Israel Railways traffic has been blocked in the area of the Ganot Interchange. ● The Gaha Interchange and Jabotinsky Route are blocked in both directions. ● In addition, police proactively closed the Hashiv'a Interchange.
