Israeli Influencer Moran Tersov Warns of Sophisticated Phishing Scam That Charged Her 990 Shekels
Moran Tersov, a well-known Israeli social media influencer, revealed in an interview on the morning show "HaOlam HaBoker" that she fell victim to a sophisticated phishing scam. The fraud began with an SMS message that appeared to be from the parking app company Pango, embedded within her genuine message thread with the company. The message claimed she owed a small debt of 12 shekels, which lowered her suspicion. However, after clicking the link, she was directed to a fake website that perfectly mimicked Pango's official site, including its logo and a convincing headline promising a "quick and private debt check."
Unaware of the deception, Tersov entered her personal and credit card details to settle the minor debt. Shortly afterward, she discovered a fraudulent charge of 990 shekels on her credit card statement instead of the expected 12 shekels. Tersov, who works professionally in the field, expressed surprise at falling for the scam and emphasized that anyone could be targeted. She warned viewers about the increasing sophistication of scammers and urged heightened vigilance, stating, "The level of cunning of these criminals has risen to a new level. It's simply crazy."
