Israeli Cyber Unit Warns of Phishing Scam Using Popular Bamba Snack Brand

The Israeli National Cyber Directorate issued an urgent warning on Thursday about a phishing campaign exploiting the well-known Israeli snack brand Bamba. The scam involves fake messages promising a 500-shekel voucher in exchange for completing a short questionnaire. However, the messages are designed to steal personal information and credit card details from unsuspecting users.

The attackers create a counterfeit landing page resembling an official Bamba promotion, complete with colorful answer buttons and fake testimonials from supposed winners to increase credibility. After completing the questionnaire, victims are asked to provide sensitive data under the pretext of delivering the prize, thereby handing over access to their bank accounts to cybercriminals.

In some cases, the fraudulent site urges users to share the promotion with WhatsApp groups or contacts to "redeem the prize," facilitating rapid spread through social engineering by exploiting trust between friends. The Cyber Directorate emphasized that legitimate companies do not distribute valuable vouchers in this manner and urged the public to be cautious before clicking on links promising free gifts.

To protect themselves, users are advised not to click on links from SMS or WhatsApp messages without verifying the offer on official company websites or verified social media pages. They should never provide verification codes, passwords, or credit card details through links received in unsolicited messages. Suspicious messages should be blocked and reported immediately.
