Israeli Cyber Unit Warns of New Bamba Snack Phishing Scam on WhatsApp
The Israeli National Cyber Directorate has issued a warning about a widespread phishing campaign circulating on WhatsApp groups, falsely claiming to offer a prize related to the popular snack Bamba. The scam message appears as a harmless short survey promising a 500-shekel reward, accompanied by familiar Bamba branding and fake testimonials from supposed winners to create a sense of legitimacy.
However, the campaign is a digital trap designed to steal sensitive personal information, credit card details, or even take over personal accounts when users click on the survey buttons and submit their data. The Cyber Directorate advises recipients not to click on any links in such messages and to verify any promotions independently through official company websites or verified social media pages.
They also emphasize never sharing personal details, credit card numbers, or verification codes received via SMS in response to suspicious messages. Recipients are urged to block and report the sender and avoid forwarding the message to others to prevent further spread.
For any suspected cyber incidents or digital fraud, the National Cyber Directorate offers free assistance through its national help center reachable by dialing 119. This alert follows ongoing impersonation scams targeting major Israeli brands online.
