Apple Releases iOS 27 Public Beta With New Siri and AI Features
Apple has launched the first public beta of iOS 27, allowing compatible iPhone users to test the new operating system ahead of its official release in September. The update introduces a significantly upgraded Siri with enhanced contextual understanding and app integration, advanced AI capabilities, and new camera features including a "Visual Intelligence" mode that recognizes objects and translates text in real time. Apple Maps also receives improvements with more realistic 3D imaging, and for the first time, users can reply to messages from Android users within the chat interface.
The iOS 27 beta supports all iPhone models from the iPhone 11 series through the latest iPhone 17, although the most advanced AI features are exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro models and newer. iPadOS 27, released alongside, drops support for many older iPad Pro and iPad Air models, requiring users to verify device compatibility before upgrading. Apple advises users to perform a full encrypted backup to a Mac or PC before installing the beta to safeguard against potential bugs that could affect battery life, Wi-Fi connectivity, and app stability.
To join the beta, users must register for free on Apple's official beta program website, then enable the iOS 27 Public Beta update through the device’s software update settings. Experts recommend installing the beta on secondary devices to avoid disrupting daily use. Apple plans to continue refining the system with additional updates leading up to the polished final release in about two months.
