Apple released the second developer beta of iOS 27 overnight. As is common with second betas, the update focuses on polishing the system, fixing bugs, and adding features that were not fully implemented in the first build. Apple is still preparing for a public beta in July, with the final, stable release expected in September alongside the new iPhone models.
One of the most notable changes is deeper Siri integration. A new "Write with Siri" button now appears above the keyboard in Notes, Mail and Messages, making it easier to access without selecting text first, as in the initial beta. Siri voice adjustment settings, available on iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air, now include labels saying speech rate and expression options are coming soon after they did not work in the previous version. The dedicated Siri app now lets users select multiple conversations for deletion, and Photos now supports AI tools for RAW files.
Apple also improved communication with Android users through RCS. Users can now long-press to reply to a specific message in an RCS thread, similar to iMessage. Tapback reaction icons now display properly on photos and videos instead of the text descriptions used in iOS 26. Wallet gained a new Insights tab showing spending data, recurring transactions and balances from linked accounts, plus new texture options when choosing colors for card creation.
The Home app now allows remote updates of Apple TV devices without turning them on, and it fixes stability issues with HomeKit accessories that did not respond in the first beta. Security camera alerts can now be long-pressed to open video directly and turn on nearby lights. Other changes include server alerts when iCloud backup fails, yellow highlights in Camera when hidden controls such as exposure adjustment are active, and brighter, more readable text in Weather. Apple also removed the legacy AirPort Utility app from download availability, and added a new Visual Intelligence option in Siri settings for third-party image search, off by default.
