Hapoel Tel Aviv Nears Signing Czech Guard Tomas Satoransky as Domestic Player
Hapoel Tel Aviv is close to signing Czech guard Tomas Satoransky for the upcoming basketball season, according to a report by Sport 5. The 34-year-old, who previously played for Barcelona, is expected to join the Israeli club on a one-year contract with an option for extension. The team is exploring the possibility that Satoransky has Jewish roots, which could allow him to obtain Israeli citizenship and play as a domestic player in the league.
Satoransky returned to Europe in 2022 after six years in the NBA, where he played for Washington, Chicago, New Orleans, and San Antonio. Last season, he averaged 7 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.4 rebounds in 25 minutes per game in the EuroLeague. He won the Spanish league championship with Barcelona in 2023 and has been named Czech Player of the Year eight times.
The guard is expected to earn approximately $1.5 million for the season and will likely serve as the third guard in Hapoel Tel Aviv's rotation under coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos. The club is also planning to sign another senior guard. Alongside Satoransky, Hapoel Tel Aviv has already strengthened its roster by signing Amir Coffey, Kadin Carrington, and Zach LeDay, while extending contracts for Tai Odiase, Antonio Blakeney, Elijah Bryant, Ish Wainright, and Dan Otero.
