Rami Levy Offers Cheapest Grocery Basket with Up to 21% Price Gap Across Products
A comprehensive price survey based on data from the Prices website examined 676 products across 144 categories throughout the year, revealing significant price disparities among Israeli supermarket chains. Rami Levy Marketing Hashikma was found to offer the cheapest overall grocery basket, with price differences reaching up to 21% compared to the most expensive chain, Consumerism.
The survey highlighted that price gaps of tens of percent exist not only in isolated promotions but also in the total cost of a family's shopping basket. For example, Materna Mehadrin Stage 3 (700 grams) was priced at 54.90 NIS at Rami Levy compared to up to 59.90 NIS elsewhere. A six-pack of Coca-Cola cost 19.90 NIS versus up to 25.40 NIS, Osem onion soup was 21.90 NIS compared to 27.90 NIS, Ashkelon Arak was 49.90 NIS versus 59.90 NIS, and sparkling wine Baz Kriniano was 31.90 NIS compared to up to 39.90 NIS in other chains.
These findings indicate that families, especially those purchasing Mehadrin-certified products, can achieve substantial annual savings by choosing their supermarket carefully. The price differences are not limited to occasional discounts but affect the overall grocery expenditure significantly.
