Rami Levy Offers Lowest Grocery Prices for Haredi Sector in Extensive Price Survey
A comprehensive price survey by Prices examined 676 items across 144 consumer categories, covering a wide range of family grocery needs from dairy and beverages to baby products, cleaning supplies, and toiletries. The survey found that Rami Levy supermarket chain offered the lowest overall basket cost, with a significant price gap of about 21% compared to the most expensive chain. This difference reflects Rami Levy's broad low-price policy rather than isolated promotions.
The survey emphasized the importance of evaluating a wide and diverse basket rather than individual items, as families budget weekly and savings accumulate across many products. Even small price differences per item can translate into hundreds of shekels saved monthly and thousands annually, which is crucial for family budgets.
Examples from the survey illustrate these savings: Ashkelon Arak (700 ml) costs 49.90 NIS at Rami Levy versus 59.90 NIS elsewhere, saving 10 NIS; Criniano sparkling white wine (750 ml) is 31.90 NIS compared to up to 39.90 NIS; Osem onion soup (400 g) costs 21.90 NIS versus 27.90 NIS; and a six-pack of Coca-Cola cans (330 ml) is 19.90 NIS compared to 25.40 NIS at pricier chains. These examples span different product categories, showing consistent pricing strategy.
For the Haredi community, where large families buy in bulk, these savings are especially impactful. Essential products like Matrena Mehadrin infant formula (stage 3, 700 g) are priced at 54.90 NIS at Rami Levy versus up to 59.90 NIS elsewhere, underscoring the importance of fair pricing on staple goods.
Rami Levy also meets the Haredi consumer's demand for high kosher standards, brand variety, and convenience by offering a wide selection of Mehadrin-certified products and private labels under one roof. This approach allows shoppers to save time and money, avoiding multiple specialty stores.
In a period of rising living costs, the extensive and objective survey confirms Rami Levy's ability to provide the Haredi public with a comprehensive, quality, and affordable shopping experience, making it the most cost-effective supermarket chain in Israel for this sector.
