Israeli Government Names Section of Route 443 After Former Minister David Levy
The Israeli government has approved a proposal by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Transportation Minister Miri Regev to name a section of Route 443 "Levy Way" in honor of the late Minister David Levy. The designated stretch runs between the Ben Shemen interchange and the Beitunia/Givat Ze'ev junction. Route 443 connects Jerusalem, Modiin, Judea and Samaria, the Shephelah, and central Israel.
Netanyahu praised Levy as a dedicated public servant who made significant contributions, breaking new ground and rising to national leadership. He highlighted Levy's social initiatives and efforts to assist vulnerable populations while promoting development in peripheral towns. Levy served as a Knesset member for the Likud party and held ministerial roles for about 20 years across various governments.
Levy was notably involved in neighborhood rehabilitation projects, for which he received the Israel Prize, recognizing his social work and commitment to community development.
