AliExpress Begins Collecting VAT Upfront for Israeli Orders Over $75

AliExpress is implementing a significant change for Israeli consumers by collecting VAT upfront at checkout for orders exceeding $75, rather than charging it upon package arrival in Israel. This adjustment aims to provide clearer pricing transparency, allowing customers to know the total cost at the time of purchase and avoid unexpected fees during customs clearance. Additionally, AliExpress is enhancing its pickup point system, enabling customers to select a preferred collection address in their account settings to reduce the inconvenience of packages being sent to distant locations.

The report from N12 indicates that alongside these changes, AliExpress plans to reduce shipping costs during a major sales event scheduled for late July and August. Currently, shipping times from China to Israel typically range from one week to ten days. It is important to note that the upfront VAT collection applies only to VAT itself and does not guarantee that private shipping companies will not charge additional handling or customs clearance fees within Israel.
