Three Relatives from Shuafat Charged with Murder Over Financial Dispute

The Israeli State Prosecutor's Office has filed serious charges against three Arab residents of Shuafat for the murder of their relative, Abd al-Salam, stemming from a financial dispute. The accused, brothers Ammar and Nour Abu Asab, along with a third family member, are charged with aggravated murder, illegal possession of weapons, and evidence tampering, including destroying clothing and the motorcycle used during the crime. Prosecutors have requested to extend their detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings.

According to the indictment, Ammar and his cousin Nour lured the victim to a meeting while armed with an assault rifle and possibly a handgun. Upon the victim's arrival, Ammar shot him multiple times in the upper body and then fired dozens of shots at close range to the head after the victim collapsed. The assailants then took the victim's mobile phone and fled. A third family member later joined to assist in their escape and set fire to the motorcycle used in the attack. One of the suspects returned later to remove helmets and gloves left at the scene.

The indictment also notes that this is not Ammar Abu Asab's first violent offense; he previously fired over 20 bullets at a car belonging to a person with whom he had a conflict. The incident took place in the Shuafat refugee camp area of East Jerusalem, with involvement from Israeli police and Border Police units.
