Three East Jerusalem Relatives Arrested for Shooting Cousin Over Debt Dispute

Three relatives from East Jerusalem are suspected of murdering their cousin in a violent dispute over a financial debt. The suspects allegedly shot the victim with over 25 bullets, killing him instantly, and then attempted to destroy evidence by setting fire to the scooter used in the crime. The incident occurred prior to their arrest on June 1, 2026.

Police investigations revealed that the suspects planned the murder together, targeting the victim due to the unresolved debt. After the shooting, they fled the scene but discarded the helmet and gloves they wore, which were later recovered by the Jerusalem District Police. Forensic evidence found on these items linked the suspects directly to the murder.

The suspects, aged between their 20s and 30s, remain in custody as prosecutors have filed a statement of charges and requested their detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings. The prosecution intends to formally indict them within the coming week. This case highlights ongoing tensions and violent disputes within the Arab sector of East Jerusalem.
