Two Israeli Residents Arrested for Illegal Entry into Palestinian City of Nablus
Two residents of Bnei Brak were arrested on Monday morning after illegally entering the Palestinian city of Nablus (Shechem), located in Area A, in violation of a military closed area order. Their vehicle was confiscated for 60 days. The suspects were identified exiting the city following a report from IDF forces and were subsequently detained by Judea and Samaria police and taken for questioning at Ariel police station. During interrogation, it emerged that this was not their first unauthorized entry into Nablus. After the investigation, they were released under restrictive conditions by the court, while their vehicle was seized in accordance with the law.
The police noted that just over the past weekend, several Israeli civilians, including a soldier, were rescued by security forces after entering Jericho, also in Area A, allegedly to attend a party. Investigations were opened against those involved, and the soldier was transferred to the military police for further handling. Security forces reiterated that Israeli civilians are prohibited by law from entering Area A due to the significant danger it poses both to them and to security personnel who often must conduct risky rescue operations. Entering Area A is a criminal offense punishable by up to one year in prison. The police affirmed their commitment to enforcing the law and prosecuting violators.
