Israeli Civilians Enter Nablus Area, Vandalize Cemetery, Stones Thrown at IDF and Civilians
Earlier on Friday, several Israeli civilians entered the outskirts of Nablus (Shechem) in the Samaria region. Palestinians present in the area threw stones at the Israelis. Additionally, an Israeli civilian reportedly fired shots into the air, though no injuries were reported. There were also reports of Israeli civilians vandalizing a cemetery in the area.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), who had been pre-positioned in the area in anticipation of the Israelis' arrival, intervened to disperse the gathering and escorted the civilians out of the vicinity. Subsequently, stones were also thrown at the IDF forces operating there. The IDF responded by following a suspect arrest protocol, which included firing towards a central instigator.
The IDF stated that its forces remain deployed across the region to prevent further friction incidents. It emphasized that entry into Area A, which includes Nablus, is forbidden and dangerous for Israelis and constitutes a legal violation.
