Serbian Handball Star Predrag Vejin Joins Maccabi Tel Aviv for 2026/27 Season
Maccabi Tel Aviv has secured a significant addition to its handball roster for the 2026/2027 season by signing Serbian national team player Predrag Vejin. Standing 1.95 meters tall and playing as a right back, Vejin returns to Israel for his second stint after previously playing for AS Ramat Hasharon during the 2019/2020 season, which was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vejin brings 12 years of experience competing in top European handball competitions, regularly participating in the EHF Champions League and EHF European League. He represented Serbia at the 2023 World Championship in Poland and the 2024 European Championship in Germany. His career began at RK Apatin in his hometown, followed by Metaloplastika Šabac, and included spells in Spain's strong league with Ademar Leon, France's Dunkerque, Poland's Wisla Plock, Croatia's RK Nexe, Greece's Olympiacos, and most recently HC Ohrid in North Macedonia.
Throughout his career, Vejin has won the Greek championship and Super Cup with Olympiacos and reached the EHF European League Final Four twice consecutively with Wisla Plock (2020/21) and RK Nexe (2021/22). Upon signing, Vejin expressed enthusiasm about joining Maccabi Tel Aviv and praised the club's fans, noting his long-standing admiration for Maccabi's basketball team.
Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Evitar Gevaon welcomed Vejin's signing, highlighting his leadership, two-way play, and excellent character as key attributes that fit the team's profile. Gevaon emphasized that Vejin was a top target from the start and expects him to contribute significantly to the team's success.
The addition of Vejin is seen as a major boost for Maccabi Tel Aviv as they prepare for the upcoming season, aiming to leverage his extensive international experience and competitive spirit.
