New Jersey Babysitter Arrested for Recording and Sharing Child Sexual Abuse Videos

Victoria Anne Cranmer, a 25-year-old woman from New Jersey, was arrested on July 8 after police discovered she had recorded sexual abuse of a child under 13 years old while babysitting. The videos were found on a cellphone that had been given to Cranmer as a birthday gift by a former roommate. Following a dispute, Cranmer was asked to leave the home and leave the phone behind. When the former roommate checked the device, she found a video saved in Snapchat memories showing Cranmer committing a sexual act on the child. She preserved the video to prevent deletion and handed the phone over to authorities.

The investigation began on May 20 after the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency alerted Little Egg Harbor Police and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit. Forensic analysis of Cranmer’s phone and Snapchat account uncovered additional videos filmed in the same bathroom, including one from May 6 when the child was allegedly under her care. Cranmer was identified through her distinctive tattoos, voice, and the bathroom setting. The child’s mother, who had previously left her son in Cranmer’s care, stopped doing so after learning about the videos and noticing behavioral changes in her son.

Cranmer faces multiple felony charges including second-degree sexual assault, production and possession of child sexual abuse material, and child endangerment. She remains held without bail at the Ocean County jail. The legal process is ongoing, and Cranmer is presumed innocent until proven guilty. There has been no public information about her legal representation or any plea entered so far.
