Alpha Diallo Joins Denver Nuggets, Leaving EuroLeague for NBA Dream

Alpha Diallo, recently named EuroLeague Defensive Player of the Year, is set to leave Monaco and the EuroLeague to join the NBA's Denver Nuggets for the upcoming season. Despite having agreed to a contract with Dubai worth over 2 million euros net, Diallo exercised his NBA exit clause by July 15, opting to sign a one-year deal with Denver for $1.4 million gross.

Dubai had already paid Monaco $750,000 for Diallo's transfer, and will now receive $1 million due to his NBA departure. Diallo, born in New York City but undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft, began his professional career in Europe, playing one season in Greece before five successful years with Monaco. During his time there, he helped secure three French championships and reached the EuroLeague final in the 2024/25 season.

Known for his toughness and defensive prowess, Diallo led the EuroLeague in steals last season with 1.4 per game, averaging 11.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. His move to the NBA marks his first opportunity to compete in the world's top basketball league, a dream he prioritized despite the significant pay cut from his Dubai contract.
