About three weeks after reports emerged in the United States that Loni Walker would join the Denver Nuggets, it has become clear that the former Maccabi Tel Aviv player signed a temporary contract to be evaluated through the preseason rather than a guaranteed deal. Meanwhile, Spanish media have renewed interest in Walker as a potential addition for Real Madrid's basketball team. Spanish journalist Sergio Vegas confirmed Real Madrid's interest, with reporter Gerard Sola adding that the club is closely monitoring Walker's situation and considers it quite possible he will play for them this season. Walker's contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv last season included an NBA exit clause valued at $2.2 million net, which expired in mid-July. However, Maccabi extended the clause to allow him to continue seeking an NBA team, which he preferred. In the previous EuroLeague season, Walker appeared in 28 games (starting 26), averaging 15.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, with a 35.1% three-point shooting percentage. In the Israeli domestic league, he played 13 regular-season games, averaging 15.6 points per game.
