Israeli Forces Raid Phone Shop in Hebron Uncovering Stolen Device Laundering Operation
Israeli security forces conducted a targeted raid on a mobile phone shop in the town of Dura, near Hebron, as part of an ongoing investigation into a widespread cellphone theft ring in central Israel. The operation took place on a Sunday morning and involved detectives from the Hebron police station and IDF soldiers from the Judea Brigade. Authorities uncovered a secret laboratory used to "launder" stolen phones taken from civilians and soldiers in the Tel Aviv and Gush Dan areas.
The investigation followed a dramatic chase weeks earlier in a Tel Aviv mall, where a suspect in his 30s from Dura was arrested. Intelligence gathered by the Hebron police led investigators to the shop, which served as a central hub for processing and redistributing stolen devices. During the raid, officers found a hidden back room used for receiving, dismantling, and altering the identities of stolen phones. They seized ten advanced smartphones suspected to be stolen, along with technological equipment and SIM cards.
Two additional suspects in their 20s, residents of Dura, were arrested at the scene. They are believed to have operated the lab and managed the stolen goods. The detainees were handcuffed and taken for extended interrogation at the Hebron police station to uncover further accomplices and additional caches of stolen property. The police investigation is ongoing and prioritized.
Footage released by the police shows armored vehicles arriving in Dura, armed soldiers securing the area, and officers confiscating numerous phones and SIM cards from the shop. The suspects were seen being led away with their eyes covered and hands cuffed. This operation marks a significant breakthrough in dismantling the organized theft network targeting civilians and soldiers in Israel's central region.
