Israeli Forces Destroy Two Suspected Stolen Vehicle Scrap Yards in South Hebron Hills
Israeli police and military forces conducted a raid overnight on three vehicle scrap yards near Dura in the southern Hebron Hills. Two of the scrap yards were demolished during the operation, while administrative proceedings were initiated against a third site that may face future demolition. The raid was carried out by the Etgar unit of Lahav 433 in cooperation with the Yehuda Brigade, following a recent policy change that facilitates administrative enforcement against scrap yards suspected of handling stolen vehicles.
At the sites, authorities discovered numerous vehicle parts and chassis suspected to be stolen. Evidence suggested that these locations had been used over an extended period for dismantling stolen vehicles and selling their parts. The commander of the Etgar unit signed demolition orders for the two previously declared scrap yards, which were then destroyed during the operation. A demolition order was also issued for the third scrap yard, pending further administrative review.
Police estimate that such scrap yards serve as destinations for stolen vehicles, which are quickly dismantled after theft and sold in parts. No arrests were reported during the raid. This operation reflects an intensified crackdown on illegal vehicle dismantling and trafficking in the region.
