Israeli Police Foil Stolen Car Dismantling Operation Near West Bank Security Fence

Israeli police from the Judea and Samaria District surprised a gang dismantling a stolen vehicle near the village of Anata, close to the West Bank security fence. The white Israeli car, stolen just hours earlier in Jerusalem, was being stripped for valuable parts by four suspects. Two of them wore gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints, while a support vehicle waited nearby to collect the stolen parts.

The suspects assumed the remote location would shield them from detection, but a special task force from the Benjamin Police Station spotted the activity during a proactive operation. Upon realizing they were caught, the suspects fled on foot, but officers quickly apprehended two of them after a brief chase. One detainee, a 17-year-old Israeli minor from Kafr Aqab with an outstanding arrest warrant, attempted to conceal his identity but was identified through police databases. The other suspect is a man in his 20s from Silwan, East Jerusalem.

Police investigations confirmed the vehicle had been stolen only hours before the attempted dismantling. Thanks to the swift police response, the car was recovered and its legal owner notified. The two arrested suspects were taken for further interrogation and subsequently detained pending a court hearing, where police will seek to extend their custody for ongoing investigation and indictment preparation.
