Amir Almog Sentenced to 25 Years for Murdering Ex-Partner Maya Vishnyak
The Tel Aviv District Court sentenced 28-year-old Amir Almog to 25 years in prison after he was convicted in a plea deal for the murder of his ex-partner, 22-year-old Maya Vishnyak, in May 2020. Almog was also ordered to pay compensation of 258,000 shekels to Vishnyak's family. According to the original indictment, during an argument between the couple, Almog strangled Vishnyak to death, photographed her body, scattered banknotes over it, sent the images to a friend, and also assaulted and injured his mother. After approximately five and a half years, the parties reached a plea agreement that amended the indictment, reducing the charge to basic murder and dropping the assault charges against his mother, as it was determined the acts occurred while Almog was under the influence of drugs.
