Israeli Police Investigate Two Attempted Child Abductions in Rehovot and Herzliya
Israeli police are investigating two separate complaints involving attempted abductions of young girls in the cities of Rehovot and Herzliya. In Rehovot, two 11-year-old girls reported that a man approached them near a car around 10 p.m. on July 9 in the Holland neighborhood. The girls recorded a video during the incident showing them fleeing the scene. According to their account, one man was inside the car and another outside, who called out to one of the girls, repeatedly urging her to come closer. The girls ran away fearing the men might pursue them in the vehicle. Their parents alerted the police and provided the video, and authorities have obtained part of the car's license plate and are searching for the suspects.
In a separate incident on Wednesday evening in Herzliya, a teenage girl claimed that a man attempted to abduct her while she was walking from a friend's house to a bus stop. The man reportedly exited a car and chased her, but she managed to escape and return to her friend's home safely. Police from the Glilot station in the Yarkon area are investigating the circumstances. Officials expressed concern that no immediate emergency call was made to the police hotline, with the complaint instead submitted online.
A local social activist in Rehovot emphasized the severity of the events, highlighting the danger posed to children during the summer vacation period and calling for the suspects to be apprehended promptly to ensure children's safety in the city.
