Israeli Soldier and Two Civilians Rescued After Entering Jericho Without Authorization
Israeli security forces conducted rescue operations overnight and into Saturday morning to extract three Israeli women who had entered the Palestinian city of Jericho. The first incident occurred during the night when the Civil Administration received a report of an Israeli woman wandering in central Jericho. Military coordination officers from the Central Command located her and arranged for her transfer to security forces through coordination channels. Initial investigations revealed the woman was a soldier in active service who had entered Jericho with an Arab Israeli boyfriend to attend a birthday celebration.
A few hours later, authorities received another report about two Israeli women speaking Hebrew in the villa neighborhood of Jericho. Security forces acted to rescue them and hand them over to Israeli security personnel. The two women explained that a friend had entered the city to meet friends they had met during a trip to Sinai. All cases were transferred to the Judea and Samaria District Police. The soldier was subsequently handed over to the Military Police Investigations Unit for further handling.
Israeli security officials reiterated that entering Area A territories, including Jericho, is life-threatening and illegal under Israeli law.
