New Evidence Emerges in Viral Assault Case of Teen Girls in Or Yehuda
Several months ago, a video showing a 14-year-old girl from Or Yehuda violently pulling another girl's hair, throwing her to the ground, and hitting her while dozens of teens watched and recorded on their phones went viral. The police launched an investigation, resulting in an assault indictment against the accused girl, who was permanently expelled from her school. However, new WhatsApp messages exchanged between the two girls before the fight, along with previously unreleased footage, have now come to light, revealing a more complex background to the incident.
The messages show that the alleged victim, who denied threatening or using offensive language, sent provocative texts such as "I've beaten girls twice your size" and escalated the conflict by threatening to involve others and "teach" the accused girl a lesson. The accused girl attempted to de-escalate, asking to resolve the matter peacefully. The additional footage depicts the alleged victim pulling the accused girl's hair amid a crowd that encouraged the confrontation before the fight captured in the viral video began.
The accused girl's family claims the viral clip only shows the final moments and that the new evidence provides a broader context, including prior social difficulties, bullying, and threats faced by their daughter. They argue that all evidence should be considered in the ongoing legal proceedings. The criminal case continues, and the appeal against the permanent school expulsion has yet to be decided.
Attorney Sharon Nahari, representing the accused, stated that the newly revealed evidence paints a different picture, suggesting their client was a victim of threats and violence while the complainant portrayed herself as the victim. Nahari called for a reevaluation of all evidence, cancellation of proceedings against her client, and examination of the complainant's responsibility based on the full evidence.
This new material is expected to become a key part of the defense's case as the legal process unfolds in Or Yehuda.
