Rabbi M. Sternbuch Urges Support for Survivors of 'Pure Heart' Cult Abuse in Israel
A family recently rescued from the abusive 'Pure Heart' cult has begun receiving significant public aid after arriving in Israel with nothing but the clothes on their backs, some children even barefoot. The mother and her young children escaped captivity and neglect, facing severe poverty and trauma upon arrival, which required immediate and extensive intervention.
Thanks to the initial mobilization and the establishment of a relief fund directed by Rabbi M. Sternbuch, the children are now undergoing intensive professional care and support. Early signs show the children, who never experienced a normal upbringing, are starting to adapt to regular life. However, the path to full recovery and independence remains long and challenging.
Aid organizations warn that the limited resources currently available threaten the continuation of crucial physical and emotional rehabilitation. Sustained funding is urgently needed to maintain intensive treatments and provide the family with a minimal economic foundation to rebuild their lives. Interruptions in care or inability to cover basic living expenses could cause setbacks.
Rabbi Sternbuch, who personally oversees the rescue fund, continues to closely monitor fundraising and rehabilitation progress. He appeals to the public to provide "decent support" to ensure the family’s recovery, stating, "I ask every Jew to help this family who escaped the 'Pure Heart' cult and cannot cover their needs. Whoever gives decent support will have eternal merit for themselves and their descendants." A donation of 544 shekels is defined as "decent support" to help the mother and children complete their rehabilitation and start anew within Israeli society.
