22-Year-Old Dies After Police Vehicle Hits Him Following Car Accident on Highway 77

Ahmad Jamal, a 22-year-old resident of Bir al-Maksur, died early Tuesday morning after being struck by a police vehicle on Highway 77 near the Mivtal interchange. The incident occurred after Jamal was involved in a car accident on the road heading toward the Mivtal interchange. Following the collision, he exited his vehicle and attempted to distance himself from the scene by crossing a safety barrier and jumping into the opposite traffic lane. At that moment, a police car passed by and hit him.

Emergency medical teams arrived shortly after midnight upon receiving a report of a pedestrian struck on Highway 77 near the Mivtal interchange. Paramedics found Jamal unconscious, without pulse or breathing, suffering from multiple severe injuries. Despite medical efforts, his death was pronounced at the scene.

Police investigators from the Northern District, the Traffic Department, and the Traffic Accident Investigators unit have launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Initial findings indicate an unusual sequence of events leading to the fatal collision. Paramedic Yuval Lontal and senior medic Tehani Zubaidat described the victim as lying unconscious with critical injuries, confirming the severity of the trauma that led to his death.
