Man Dies After Bus Collapses on Him While Changing Tire in Central Israel

A 46-year-old man was killed in the settlement of Hefetz Haim on July 6, 2026, after a bus collapsed on him while he was changing a tire. The incident occurred earlier on Monday when the driver knelt under the bus to replace the wheel, but the vehicle fell and trapped him beneath it. Emergency responders from Magen David Adom (MDA) received an initial report of a man trapped under a bus in critical condition and dispatched paramedics and medics to the scene.

Firefighters and rescue teams from the Rehovot station also arrived to assist with the extraction using specialized equipment. After successfully freeing the man, medical personnel conducted examinations but found him without signs of life and suffering severe upper body injuries. MDA senior paramedic Meir Avivi and paramedic Binyamin Greineman, both from the motorcycle unit, confirmed that despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragic accident highlights the dangers involved in roadside vehicle repairs and the swift response by emergency services in the area. The victim's identity has not been disclosed, and further investigations into the circumstances of the collapse are expected.
