66-Year-Old Man Collapses on Bus in Beitar Illit, Hospitalized in Serious Condition
A 66-year-old man collapsed this Thursday morning on a bus in Beitar Illit and was rushed to the hospital in serious condition after prolonged resuscitation efforts. Rescue teams from United Hatzalah were dispatched to the scene on Kedushat Levi Street, where they provided immediate medical care. First responders Meni Winfeld, Yaakov Walach, and Shrulik Zitron began CPR and used a defibrillator to deliver multiple electric shocks, successfully restoring the man's heartbeat.
Volunteer doctor Udi Levinsky and paramedics Yaanki Grinwald and Robi Sheinberger arrived shortly after and found the man unconscious, without pulse or breathing, following a sudden collapse witnessed by passengers. Together with additional Magen David Adom paramedics, they performed advanced resuscitation including chest compressions, ventilation, and defibrillation. Miraculously, the man's pulse and breathing returned, and he was transported intubated and sedated by MDA's intensive care ambulance to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem for trauma treatment.
The coordinated efforts of bystanders, United Hatzalah volunteers, and MDA paramedics were crucial in stabilizing the patient and saving his life. His condition remains serious as he receives ongoing care at the hospital.
