Two Teens Charged in Bnei Brak for Systematic Burglary Spree Including Rare Silver Theft
After a three-month investigation, the Tel Aviv District Police's Juvenile Prosecution Unit filed serious charges against two teenagers, aged 14 and 16, from Bnei Brak. They are accused of a series of crimes including the theft of rare silver items valued at approximately 100,000 shekels. The police stated that the suspects conducted a systematic burglary spree across the city, targeting locations such as a synagogue, a children's daycare, and a supermarket.
The investigation began following three separate complaints received over recent months. As the inquiry progressed, police connected the incidents to a similar modus operandi. The peak of the spree occurred in June when the two broke into a well-known synagogue on Aharonovitch Street late at night. They bypassed charity boxes and broke into the "Admor's room," where they opened a safe and stole valuable silver items.
Earlier, in April, the teens stole snacks and drinks from a supermarket on the same street, and in May, they broke into a daycare on Yarden Street by smashing a window, entering the secretary's office, and stealing cash and checkbooks. Through meticulous collection of forensic evidence, digital data, and witness testimonies, police identified and arrested the two suspects in a targeted operation. The stolen silver items were recovered and returned intact to the synagogue's caretaker.
The teens face multiple charges including breaking into a place of worship, joint theft, breaking into a non-residential building, intentional property damage, and criminal trespassing. A request was also submitted to keep them under full house arrest until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
