Two Minors Arrested for String of Burglaries in Bnei Brak Including Theft from Hasidic Rabbi's Safe
Israeli police arrested two minors, aged 14 and 16, from Bnei Brak for a series of burglaries in the city, including a high-value theft from a Hasidic rabbi's synagogue office. The investigation by the Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan police station began after three separate break-ins over recent months. In June, the suspects broke into a synagogue on Aharonovitch Street, entered the room of the Tshernobyl Rebbe, and stole silver items worth approximately 100,000 shekels from a safe. Earlier, in May, they broke into a residence on Yarden Street, smashing a window and stealing cash and a checkbook from the secretariat office. In April, they entered a supermarket on Aharonovitch Street and stole snacks and canned drinks.
Following evidence collection, the two suspects were identified and detained. The stolen silverware was recovered and returned to the synagogue. After concluding the investigation, the Tel Aviv District Youth Prosecution filed charges against the minors for multiple offenses including burglary of a place of worship and residence, joint theft, breaking and entering a non-residential building, intentional property damage, and criminal trespassing. The prosecution also requested house arrest for the suspects until the end of legal proceedings.
