Thief Steals Tens of Thousands in Electronics and Cash from Bnei Brak Yeshiva During Sabbath
Security cameras at the Shaar HaTalmud yeshiva in Bnei Brak captured a suspect stealing valuable items during a free Sabbath when the yeshiva was empty of students. The incident occurred on the night of June 13 around 3:20 a.m. The thief was seen entering the premises, moving through several rooms, and leaving shortly after with an iPad valued at about 8,000 shekels, two Apple MacBook laptops worth over 10,000 shekels, thousands of shekels in cash, identity cards, driving licenses, and two speakers. The total estimated loss amounts to tens of thousands of shekels.
The owners filed a police complaint immediately after the Sabbath and requested fingerprint collection from the wallet the suspect allegedly touched. However, they claim no police arrived to collect fingerprints despite the request being officially recorded. Since then, they have only been told they will be updated if there is any progress, but no further information has been provided.
This footage was released for the first time by Kikar HaShabbat about two weeks after the theft. Meanwhile, over the recent weekend, no reports of break-ins or thefts were recorded in Bnei Brak for the first time in a long period. Police attributed the calm to ongoing investigations by the Dan District officers, which led to the arrest of two minors suspected of involvement in a series of break-ins. Local business owners hope this signals the end of the recent wave of thefts troubling the city.
