Israeli Actress Dror Zuzovsky Opens Up About Hollywood Success and Personal Life
Dror Zuzovsky, an Israeli actress who has recently worked alongside Hollywood heavyweights such as Martin Scorsese, revealed her admiration for actor Danny DeVito, citing his film 'Matilda' as a formative influence from her childhood. She recounted meeting DeVito on the set of the film 'The Survivor' five years ago and shared a childhood memory of trying to move a tree with her mind after watching 'Matilda'.
At 35, Zuzovsky has built a successful international career, balancing roles in the US, UK, and Israel. She recently completed filming an HBO pilot with Joshua Jackson, Ray Romano, and Rita Wilson, and starred in Scorsese's docudrama series 'The Saints' as well as the miniseries 'The Missing' alongside her partner, British actor Sam Claflin. In Israel, she won the Best Performance award at the 2023 Cannes International Series Festival for her role in 'Corduroy' and is currently promoting the short film 'Big Pepe', which she also produced.
Zuzovsky moved to Los Angeles two years ago to pursue her Hollywood ambitions, enduring numerous auditions before landing roles. She emphasized perseverance as key to success and noted that despite the challenges Israeli actors face abroad, including after October 7, she personally has not felt a decline in opportunities.
Her personal life has evolved significantly; after past relationships including one with a woman, she is now in a stable relationship with Claflin, whom she met on the set of 'The Missing'. They have been together for ten months and are exploring their future, including the possibility of marriage and children. Zuzovsky expressed a desire to become a mother, saying, "I would like to be a mom, God willing."
Spiritually, Zuzovsky identifies as a believer deeply connected to Judaism and metaphysical interests. She studies Kabbalah, observes Jewish traditions such as Shabbat and Yom Kippur, and finds faith to be an anchor amid her nomadic lifestyle. She also enjoys sharing Israeli culture with Claflin, who has visited Israel twice and learned some Hebrew phrases.
