IDF Chief Visits Bofor Ridge, Declares Hezbollah Weakened and Defeated
On Sunday morning, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir conducted a special visit to the Bofor Ridge in southern Lebanon amid ongoing security tensions and a recently signed agreement. The visit included a close operational review of the strategic area, which has long served as a Hezbollah terrorist base. Zamir toured an underground tunnel system carved deep into the mountain by Hezbollah with Iranian funding and guidance, designed to threaten northern Israeli communities and serve as command centers for combat operations.
The visit was attended by Northern Command Chief Major General Rafi Milo, 36th Division Commander Brigadier General Yiftah Nurkin, and other senior officers. Zamir emphasized that the IDF currently controls key terrain both above and below ground in the Bofor area, which remains saturated with terrorist infrastructure. Addressing the Lebanese Army, he called on it to fulfill its commitments under the historic agreement by clearing Hezbollah militants and terror infrastructure from the area.
Zamir praised the offensive actions of the 36th Division, noting their crossing of the Litani River and successful surprise attacks that have weakened Hezbollah. He stated, "Hezbollah is exhausted and defeated in every encounter with our forces, now relying on its Iranian patron for rescue." Zamir reaffirmed that IDF operations in Lebanon adhere to the agreement's principles and that any threats against Israeli forces or communities will be immediately targeted and eliminated. The IDF remains prepared to swiftly transition to offensive action should the ceasefire be violated, continuing its mission to protect northern Israeli residents.
