Seventeen-Year-Old Dies After Haifa Convenience Store Shooting That Killed Another Teen

At Rambam Hospital in Haifa, 17-year-old Wiam Faisal succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained two days earlier at the entrance of a convenience store in the city. The shooting incident also claimed the life of 18-year-old Jonathan Khoury, who reportedly was not involved in any conflict but became an unintended victim of the violence. Another individual was critically injured in the shooting. Since the start of the year, 149 people have been killed in the Arab community.

The Haifa police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting, which preliminary findings suggest was criminal in nature. Officers from the Haifa station and the Carmel district responded to the scene, where Deputy Commissioner Boaz Samucha, the district commander, held a situational assessment. The Coastal District Commander, Commissioner Yechiel Bohadana, also conducted an on-site assessment and assigned the Carmel district's Crime Fighting Unit to lead the investigation. Several investigative leads are currently being pursued.

The emergency call reporting the shooting was received by Magen David Adom (MDA) just after midnight. Paramedics Zipora Shagol, senior medic Nofar Nadaf, and medic Avraham Epstein found three men unconscious with severe gunshot wounds. One victim was without pulse or breathing, and despite medical efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two were given life-saving treatment and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
