Man Brutally Attacks Ex-Wife in Front of Children During Visit to Collect Belongings in Haifa

A 50-year-old man named Daniel Wiskind from Haifa was indicted for violently assaulting his ex-wife in front of their two young children during a visit to his apartment on June 26. The woman had come with their children, aged six and ten, to collect her personal belongings. According to the indictment, the incident escalated when Wiskind slammed a kitchen cabinet door and threatened her, telling her to leave and warning of consequences if she did not.

The violence intensified as he pushed her, twisted her arm, and threw her phone and headphones into the stairwell. In the living room, he strangled her on the sofa while the children tried to intervene. He verbally abused her with threats, saying, "I will kill you, I will bury you in the ground." The peak of the attack occurred when she tried to retrieve tefillin from a shelf; he grabbed them, repeated his threats, punched her multiple times in the abdomen, chest, and face, kicked her, choked her repeatedly, and slammed her head against the wall. She fell bleeding and was later hospitalized with head injuries, strangulation marks, and abrasions.

Haifa police responded promptly to the report, arrested Wiskind at the scene, and launched an immediate investigation. The indictment was filed quickly, accompanied by a request to keep him in custody until the trial concludes. Karen Avitan, head of the Family Violence Unit at Haifa police, emphasized the severity of domestic violence, especially in front of children, and stated that the Israeli police maintain a zero-tolerance policy and are committed to protecting victims and public safety.
