IDF Investigates After Soldier Posts Photo of Bound Palestinian Detainee in Gaza

A significant controversy erupted on social media following the circulation of a photo showing a Palestinian detainee in Gaza tied with ropes to a wooden board inside an Israeli military compound. The image, accompanied by the caption "Good morning," was originally posted as a status update by an IDF soldier from the Nahal Brigade's Netzah Yehuda Battalion operating in northern Gaza. The photo quickly went viral, sparking widespread public and military backlash due to its disturbing nature and the apparent disregard for military ethics.

Initially, the IDF denied any connection between the incident and the Netzah Yehuda Battalion, claiming the origin of the photo was unknown and unrelated to their operations. However, after intense media scrutiny and a thorough investigation, the military admitted the event did occur within the battalion's operational area. The probe revealed serious concerns about the conduct of the local command, as the direct commander of the involved soldiers was aware of the incident but failed to report it up the chain of command, allegedly attempting to conceal the event.
